Swiss start-up of the year 2025: Corintis cools the future of computing

At the 2025 Top100 Swiss Startup Awards, Corintis was recognised as the winner for its pioneering in-chip cooling technology, which is set to transform next-generation computing and solidify Switzerland’s position at the forefront of deeptech innovation.
Now in its 15th year, the Top100 Swiss Startup Awards have become an indicator of the country’s entrepreneurial strength. The annual ranking showcases the most promising early-stage ventures, offering insights into the technologies and business models that will shape Switzerland’s economic future. Only companies that are no more than five years old at the time of incorporation are included in the ranking. Over the past 15 years, startups in the ranking have created over 20,000 jobs, raised CHF 14.4 billion, and achieved 100 exits and 10 IPOs. Alumni such as Climeworks, GetYourGuide, and On Running shoes have grown into global players, proving the awards’ ability to identify future leaders.
The Top100 proves that startups are the best asset to invest in for Switzerland, not only as financial opportunities but also as a way to build the next global market leaders and to fulfil a moral duty towards future generations.
Cooling the future of computing
In 2025, EPFL spin-off Corintis stood out with a solution that tackles one of the tech industry’s biggest challenges: heat. As chips become more powerful, managing thermal efficiency is becoming increasingly important. Corintis' liquid-cooling technology, which is integrated directly into microchips, boosts performance while reducing energy use. This is considered a breakthrough with applications across AI, data centres, and high-performance computing. It is estimated that integrated cooling consumes up to 50 times less electricity than traditional air-cooling systems for microchips.
Runners-Up: Sustainability and AI in Action
